Mummification Process (80 Points)
Actually create a mummy! Get a small chicken (like a Cornish Game Hen--$2 at Grocery Outlet) and got through an actual mummification process. The process can take up to 50 days to complete, so use your time wisely and get going ASAP. Part 1: Conduct research on the topic to gain a better understanding of the process and purpose of mummification. Research must be kept track of in a google doc or in a notebook. It should include notes on what you learned and where the source was (web address, book title author, etc.) This information will be used in class to create a bibliography. After conducting research, write a one page paper that provides an overview of the process and explain it's significance in ancient Egyptian society. The paper must be typed, double spaced, Times New Roman, size 12 font. All sources must be cited. Part 2: Research how to mummify a chicken (there are plenty of resources with instructions online). While doing the process, take notes on the changes you see throughout the time it takes to finish. Write these notes in a separate document and be detailed! Create a name for your mummy too. You may wrap it when its finished if you'd like, or just bring it into class as it is. Happy mummifying! |
