Minecraft, or other 3-D Modeling Software (50 Points) |
Design a three-dimensional Egyptian scene. Your scene must include at least five concepts/items that were key to Egyptian society. Most projects have more than five. Depending on the software, some of the aspects that might be best to research include; pyramids, obelisks, temples, houses, sarcophagus, shaduf, sphinx, and agriculture with irrigation from the Nile. The project consists of 2 parts.
Part 1: Choose 5 aspects of ancient Egypt to do research on. See suggestions above. You need to do two kinds of research. One is facts-based research about the structures and other items you are going to build.
For each aspect, write half a page of information about that topic in your own words. The page must be typed, double spaced, Times New Roman, size 12 font. Research is only research if you find out at least 3 facts per topic that we did not put in our class notes and that are not in the social studies book. (In-class activity). All sources need to be cited. Research must be kept track of in a google doc or in a notebook. It should include notes on what you learned and where the source was (web address, book title author, etc.) This information will be used in class to create a bibliography.
The second type of research is visual. Did the pyramid have secret passages? Can you build them? How about the houses with the inner courtyards and where did the people sleep? (on the roof?) If possible it is best if you can put labels on the items like "Pyramid of Khufu". Research must be cited. (Research is an in-class activity)
Part 2: Once you create the scene you will need to share your vision. If you have it on an Apple device with blue tooth, you can probably connect to the Apple TV. A second way is to bring your tablet, laptop, or game system. Make sure that it is set up to work without the internet as even if you were hooked to the wireless, the site would be blocked so all projects need to be internet free.
